La Maison Blanche is a beautiful brand new villa with a sunny and private swimming pool plus a spacious terrace and pretty walled garden. This is a superb holiday home which has been finished to a high standard. The villa has a large salon and dining room, state of the art kitchen, three double bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, plus a second spacious bathroom.

We believe that you will have everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable holiday in our villa. There is pretty bed linen for all the beds plus we provide towels for each of the two bathrooms. For the beach or lounging on the poolside there are beach towels for your use. There are also two hairdryers.

The villa has a spacious terrace for your relaxation. The terrace is partly covered for shade when it is very hot but also has an area uncovered if you wish to sunbathe on one of the 300 days of sunshine in this part of France. The terrace is illuminated at night for Al Fresco dining. There is a very pretty walled garden with some lawn, plants, palm tree, olive trees and mature pine trees.

There is a private swimming pool where you can cool off from the heat of the day or just lounge on the poolside on one of our loungers. The sun is on the swimming pool all day. The swimming pool complies with the law in France which means it is safe and secure with gates that lock.

There is a gated and lockable entrance to the villa and private parking space for two to three cars.

La Maison Blanche is situated in the ancient village of Paraza which is situated alongside the famous Canal du Midi. It is just a short walk to the village shop which sells groceries and bread and a little further to walk to the two restaurants in the village. In Paraza there are lots of activities to enjoy - you can play boules or tennis or enjoy horse riding at the ranch on the edge of the village. There are plenty of walks or hire a bike from the village and the bikes will be delivered to your door. Or, hire a boat and take a trip along the Canal du Midi.

Paraza is a great location for exploring the Languedoc region either by car, on foot or by bike. The Mediterranean beaches are all within an easy driving distance.

LOCAL TOURISM
Visit Béziers and the Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire, one of the many museums or Le Jardin du Plateau des Poètes. Béziers has long been associated with rugby and you can buy all sorts of rugby items from the ASB Rugby Club. In August for a whole week Béziers comes alive with the Féria. There is a wide choice of restaurants and shopping. Ten minutes from the town centre you will find the neuf écluses de Fonseranne - a fascinating part of the Canal du Midi where the locks "lift" canal boats down a slope.

Carcassonne is a medieval city where the château and the ramparts are truly breath-taking. This cité is one of the most spectacular sites in France and ranks in the top five most visited tourist locations in the country. There is a medieval festival every August with jousting tournaments, son et lumière performances and concerts. The new town is pleasant and there are several large supermarkets on the outskirts - a useful plus point for travellers using Carcassonne airport who want to stock up on food and drink.

It is pleasant to wander around Narbonne, with its historic remains, in the shade of the plane trees, through its narrow winding streets and along the banks of the Canal de la Robine. The French singer-composer Charles Trenet was a native of Narbonne. There are lots of restaurants, cafés and bars to choose from. Narbonne has a wide selection of shops and plenty of places of interest. Les Halles in the centre of Narbonne is one of the best places to buy fresh food and is open every day of the year from 7am to 1pm. L’Espace de Liberté (route de Perpignan) includes an Olympic sized swimming pool, skating rink, bowling alley and a range of outdoor sports facilities including a pitch and putt golf course.

Montpellier is a bustling and vibrant capital of the Languedoc is a centre of education, the arts, culture and shopping. A revitalised and original town centre has a superb pedestrianised area. The Jardin des Plantes is one of the loveliest in Europe and the oldest in France. Two tram lines (with a third planned) makes the city easy to negotiate and a wide choice of restaurants and cinemas (some showing films in English) make this a must-see place. Odysseum is a huge new up-market shopping area on the outskirts, which includes an IKEA store.

Perpignan is a Catalan city between the mountains and the sea and is the gateway to Spain. It is a wonderful place to visit with lots of places of historical interest to visit as well as plenty of restaurants, cafés, shops of every description as well as festivals and much more. It is a very busy and popular destination and well worth a visit. Every September there is a festival of photo-journalism.

Many holidaymakers who drive down to this region travel across the Millau Viaduct. The bridge spans the valley of the River Tarn and was designed by architect Norman Foster in collaboration with French engineer Michel Virlogeux. It is the tallest traffic bridge in the world and worth a visit. Reasonably close to the bridge is the famous cheese-making village of Roquefort where you can visit the caves to taste and buy the famous blue-veined cheese.

Gruissan is a village, port and beach all rolled into one. It lies between sea, lake and mountain. You can learn to windsurf, sail a catamaran, go fun boarding or even learn to scuba dive. If you want to take your time in a more leisurely pace there are lovely beaches to relax on or do a spot of sea fishing. The tiny village offers several tempting restaurants and there is a peaceful (but lengthy) walk around the lake.

Known and much loved in Castelnaudary since the 15th century is the authentic cassoulet, a dish of beans, sausages and pork. Not a meal for the faint-hearted.

Collioure is a delightful and pretty fishing port made famous by the artists Braque, Picasso and Matisse. There is also an anchovy salting works that you can visit. Also worth a visit is the Château Royal. Frantically busy in July and August.

Lagrasse is one of France’s most beautiful villages but very busy during the season.

La Franqui is a tiny but beautiful seaside village on the shores of the Med and a 45-minute drive from Paraza. It offers a superb sandy beach, several good restaurants and watersports. It does get busy in the height of the season, though.

Limoux is situated 25km from Carcassonne and is an ideal place to start exploring the Cathar country. Visit the Catharama to learn more about the history of the Cathares. Try La Blanquette de Limoux wine. The wines of Limoux have been famous since ancient times. Three varieties of white grape are used to make Blanquette, the oldest sparkling wine in the world.

Minèrve is a little town but must be visited on foot. It overlooks the abysses of the Cesse and the Brian and was built in the 11th century. It retains its medieval look with its ruins and the frontages of many of the houses.

Clive of India stayed in Pézenas in 1768 for his health and petits pâtés of Pézenas were first made by his Indian cook. These small torpedo-shaped pies with golden crusts contain sweetened meat and today are eaten as an appetiser. Pézenas is a great place to stay or visit. There is lots to do and see such as churches, museums, a distillery, an abbey and there is hiking around the Pézenas area. It is an artistic centre and there are at least five decent antique/junk shops to pick up that bargain...

Port-Leucate is a coastline of rocky outcrops and lagoons and vineyards. Port Leucate was especially created and is entirely devoted to watersports - mainly yachting and windsurfing. It has a picturesque village with shops and restaurants. There is plenty of cycling or mountain-biking and walking.
