ACCOMMODATION
There is a twin bedroom and a double bedroom both en suite and there is also a further double and twin bedroom.
The bathroom has a bath with shower over, vanity unit and toilet. There are two sofa beds in the lounge.
This gite has private direct access to the indoor swimming pool. There is under water lighting for night swimming.
The property is set in the magnificent walled garden of the Maison de Maitre in St. Marcel sur Aude, in the sunny south of France, surrounded by productive vineyards.
Six miles from the historic town of Narbonne, close to the Canal du Midi and River Aude, which rises in the mountains near Andorra.
The well maintained lawned gardens extend to approximately 0.5 of an acre, with large mature trees that provide shaded areas for those who want to escape from the sun.
This quiet private garden has been described by visitors as an oasis, hidden in an old village. The sound of the cascading fountain, in the lily ponds, compliments the bird songs.
The old village has a boulangerie, restaurant, bar and pharmacy all within 200 yards of the property. There are two supermarkets and other village services.
Wine from the surrounding vines can be tasted in many local caves.
LIVING ROOM
Secure off road parking is provided, the BBQ area is secluded and is, as would be expected in a quality holiday venue, equipped with all the necessary garden furniture.
It measures 8 meters by 5.5 meters the depth is 1.5 meters at the shallow end slowly deepening to 2 meters.
There is indoor Table tennis, and a badminton net for the garden.
There is a selection of books, board games and DVD's provided for your use
KITCHEN
The gite has been tastefully restored and enjoys large open plan living areas. The kitchen/dining areas are spacious and fully equipped, with cooker with extractor fan, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A cool box and freezer blocks are provided for your shopping and picnics etc. The comfortable lounge area has Sky satellite television with DVD player. All rooms have fans.
BEDROOM(S)
The area is famous for its water sports with the many etangs offering safe coastal stretches of water for wind surfing and kite boarding, there are also many schools that offer tuition. Rivers, lakes and canals offer other water sport opportunities.
There is a sailboard and double kayak that are available for use.
LOCAL TOURISM
A few minutes drive away you will find boats for hire on the Canal du Midi at Le Somail, and this is the last port before the Canal de la Robine splits off and heads south towards Narbonne. The towpaths provide many miles of shade for cycling and walking.
We have a new contact with a local cycle hire company who will deliver bicycles to your gite and collect them at the end of your hire period without extra charge. All equipment and suggestions for rides are included in their tariff.
We are in easy reach of lovely sandy Mediterranean beaches. Our nearest beaches are Narbonne Plage and Gruissan, both about 16 miles away, where you will be able to hire boats, and participate in water sport activities. Gruissan has a theme park during high season and a casino.
OTHER INFORMATION
Excellent shopping coupled with stylish restaurants and open-air cafes can be enjoyed in Narbonne.
A twice-weekly outdoor market is held in the city centre, (please check with us which days). There is also a wonderful indoor food market every morning.
Narbonne is an ancient Roman city, and among its splendid attractions is the Cathedral of Saint Just. The city has many Roman remains and museums
