| LOCAL TOURISM |
The Region : Nezignan l'Evêque is in the heart of the beautiful Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, nestling amongst endless vineyards, yet only a stone's throw from miles of Mediterranean beaches.
The historic town of Pezenas, former home of Moliere, is just 5 minutes drive away. With its famous Saturday market, a maze of narrow streets to explore and visit the many little shops, art galleries etc. or just take in the atmosphere at the street cafes and restaurants, Pezenas is well worth a visit. Everyday shopping can be done at one of the supermarkets on the outskirts of town.
The larger towns of Beziers (25km), Agde (15km), Montpellier (60km) and Nimes (100km) are also within easy reach. There is excellent access to the area by road, rail and low-cost airlines which fly into Montpellier, Nimes and Carcassonne.
On offer in this beautiful, still fairly undiscovered area are countless activities for a fun-filled or relaxing holiday including:
• Miles of sandy Mediterranean beaches for sunbathing, fishing, watersports. The nearest beach is 15 minutes by car.
• Fun for all the family at the lively resort of Cap d'Agde.
• Close by is the Canal du Midi where you can walk or sail and watch the world go by.
• Golf is on offer at the local Saint Thomas golf course, Beziers.
• Just a short drive away are mountains and lakes, providing walks, canoeing, windsurfing, fishing.
• An area steeped in history
• For those who would like to venture further afield, interesting visits include Provence, Andorra & Barcelona
• Just an hour's drive away is the spectacular recently-opened Millau Bridge
Like many French villages, Nezignan l'Eveque holds festivals throughout the year where local wine and superb French hospitality can be sampled.
The village itself has a range of shops including a baker, butcher, newsagent, grocer, post office, tourist office, hairdresser, bar, hotel/restaurant and medical centre.
